AYE  Information

Our mission is to  provide young people with job training, education and counseling so that  they become self-sufficient and productive. Our goal is to alleviate some  of the serious problems facing youth such as the high school dropout rate,  illiteracy, crime and unemployment. We strive to achieve this through  partnerships with employers, community organizations and local educational  agencies to leverage resources and impart greater value to the community  at large and the young people we serve.

The Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services (AYE) provides over 3,000 less privileged youth with job training, educational and career services each year. An additional 1,500 young people receive referral and job placement assistance through an extensive network of employers and community organizations.

AYE has operated federally funded job training programs since 1965 when it was asked by the U.S. Department of Labor to participate in the War on Poverty. Since then, AYE has served over 75,000 disadvantaged young people. AYE has proved a viable provider of public services by meeting and often exceeding the local Workforce Investment Board performance standards. This is accomplished by partnerships with many firms, such as, Bank of America, Walgreens, Queen of Angels Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and the Automobile Club of Southern California.

AYE has field offices in Antelope Valley, Downtown LA, East Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley, Hollywood, and South LA in partnership with many local educational and community organizations. These community organizations provide vocational training, literacy classes, classrooms, lecture halls, and counseling services for young people, thus enabling AYE to leverage public funds with private resources.

AYE collaborates with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Bresee Foundation, Marriott Foundation, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Southeast LA Crenshaw WorkSource Center, Los Angeles Conservation Corp (LACC), and the Los Angeles Chamber’s L.A. Youth at Work (LAYAW) and many others. These partnerships allow us to share information and resources to promote a comprehensive youth delivery system. These programs are vital in helping young people prepare for America’s future jobs.
